Community Outreach

Outreach Events

When we aren't spending all of our time building robots, we work to be active members of our community. We attend various events in and around Napa County such as the Mini Maker/Science Fair at the Napa Valley Boys and Girl's club, the Napa Valley Family Festival, and a robotics event at our local library. We believe that it is important for all members of our community to be able to experience different aspects of STEM while learning how to work together as a team and overcome challenges together.

Summer Camp

In order to get more young members of our community excited about STEM, and to introduce more people to our team, we hold an annual summer camp for a week in June. Students learn how to design, build, and program their own VEX robots, all while developing teamwork and communication skills. They also learn how to use CAD, and even have an opportunity to drive our FRC robots from this year's competition!

The camp ends with a competition which the camper's VEX robots must be able to complete.

FIRST LEGO League Teams

As a further effort to get kids excited about robotics, we are founding FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams in our local community. Our goal is to create at least one new FIRST team in our community each year. However, this year we are set to found three.

The first two will be located at a local elementary school, Blue Oak, which is a private K-8 school located in downtown Napa. We will be working with their 5th grade class to start two FLL teams which will be turned into a class at their school. Their first season will be 2019-2020 game, City Shaper.

We are very excited to begin work with this team!
