2019 Deep Space
Our Robot
To the left is a photo of our 2019 Deep Space robot, Neil. It is named after Neil Armstrong in honor of this year being the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
Competition Season
This year, we attended three different regionals and got increasingly better as the season went on.

At the Del Mar Regional, our first competition of the season, we did not do as well as we had hoped. We faced a lot of electrical issues, and additionally entered the competition with a non-functional drive train. We worked to fix these issues for a large portion of the competition and, as a result, didn't place very high.
Our skill increased at the Sacramento regional. We went from being one of the bottom teams at Del Mar, to Captains of Alliance 7. We made it all the way to quarter-finals, where we lost to the team who ended up winning the world championships.
At our third and final regional in Nampa, Idaho, we did extremely well. We bounced between third and second place for the entire weekend, and settled in as Captains of Alliance Three. We made it to semi-finals before we were defeated by Alliance Two.
The Game
2019's FIRST FRC Competition is titled Deep Space. The game involves two alliances of three teams each competing to place hatch covers and rubber balls or “cargo” on rockets and cargo ships before returning to their hab platform to climb at the end of the match. Each team's works to create a robot that will be able to partake in as many challenges as possible, win points and ranking points, and to meet the ultimate goal of winning the match!
